Take the Test: What Makes Me Tick—What Makes My Team Tick

January 4, 2024

Communicating in a Way That Suits the Person's Personality Type

You are always your own best expert.

That's great, for starters. No one knows you as well as you do.

It’s exactly the same with your employees. As leaders, we need to step outside our egos to better understand others. That way, we can adapt our communication, gain a better understanding of how to inspire people to embrace change, and empower each member of our team individually based on their own strengths.

DISG stands for: Dominant, Initiative, Steady, and Conscientious.

I am DISG-certified and am actually authorized to administer the full-length tests. However, in the course of my work as a coach and trainer, I’ve found that the short Katja Schäfer Mini DISG Test often provides a good insight—with a touch of humor—into how we tick.

Instead of colors, I have characters:

Red stands for Volker Vorwärts: the doer, the decision-maker—who can get loud at times, and patience isn't his strong suit

Yellow represents Susi the Jester: the networker and the creative mind within us, who comes up with out-of-the-box solutions but gets a little chaotic when she's overwhelmed

Green stands for Heiner Harmonie: The suggestion box from the team that cares about everyone getting along and feels insecure when it senses a lack of emotional security.

Blue is Franzi Facts: The “Data Queen” inside us, who loves Excel just because it's Excel, who knows all the tricks inside and out but gets stressed out when she doesn't have all the data on the table to make decisions

Interim Conclusion:

Just to be quick: Which two do you feel most drawn to?

On the spur of the moment?

Take the test for a more detailed evaluation.

Afterward, you'll understand what makes you tick and how you can connect with others to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts.

Sign up and take the test on communication and conflict resolution tailored to your personality type

I love this tool because it helps leaders see how they can communicate more effectively with their employees—and also how they can better understand themselves, learn to set boundaries, and approach conflicts with a calm mindset.
